Public Engagement
We are committed to engaging with the public to ensure our science is relevant and impactful
Well-funded engagement enables long-term, mutually beneficial relationships that are essential for progressive programmes, an engaged research culture, and impactful research.
Our programmes involve a wide variety of audiences — not just to empower them with knowledge, but more crucially, to involve publics in our research so it remains societally relevant and benefits people's lives more quickly.
Long-term sustained funding has allowed us to build lasting partnerships, develop sustainable engagement practices, and grow a wealth of experience across the OxCIN community. Read more in our engagement report: "Investing in engagement: how long-term funding leads to impactful research", where you'll also find a selection of case studies, alongside further examples at the bottom of this page.
Alongside our centre-wide programme, we offer bespoke engagement and involvement support for researchers — including help fulfilling grant requirements, ensuring research tools are open and inclusive, and embedding public voices and lived experience into research. Get in touch with the team for support with any aspect of this.
We also maintain a library of activities and resources: OxCIN researchers can access these via the resources library below, and those outside OxCIN are welcome to get in touch — we're always happy to share. Additionally, our Engagement Ambassadors programme trains researchers and creates opportunities for them to engage audiences with their research.
