SHElock / Rogue Brain Takeover
Shelock and ROGUE BRAIN TAKEOVER
In 2018, one of our engagement ambassadors was keen to spark an interest in physics and engineering among secondary school girls. The activity she came up with, SHElock, was a programme of ‘whodunnit’ style workshops that included an escape room inspired by the brain imaging techniques we use in our research.
In the intervening years, the escape room, now dubbed ‘Escape the Lab: Rogue Brain Takeover’ has undergone a transformation from low-fi kinetic sand brains and upturned fruit baskets to a full blown escape room with walls, carefully crafted story line and menacing soundtrack! In this guise it had its first outing in 2023 and is now an important part of our engagement library of activities.
If you would like to explore hosting the escape room in a school or at a festival or elsewhere, please get in touch with the engagement team here.
Funding
SHElock and Rogue Brain Takeover were funded by our core funding from Wellcome.
