Groups & Committees
There are many ways to get involved with the life of the Centre, and we encourage all members (students, researchers, and core staff) to join one of our committees or working groups. This page collates current calls for new members and other opportunities, but please feel free to reach out to admin@oxcin.ox.ac.uk if you're interested in contributing to any topics not featured on this list.
Ambassador Programmes
Applications will open around November
We have three Ambassador Programmes: EDI, Open Science, and Public & Policy Engagement. Each programme runs for a year and has an annual application period, which is advertised in the Monday Message. All OxCIN members (students, RAs, researchers, core staff) are very welcome to apply.
Open Science
Welcoming new contributors!
If you're interested in Open Science, the Ambassador Programme is a great way to develop your skills and ideas. However, the Open Science Ambassadors and wider community also welcome contributions from anyone who would like to be involved on a more ad-hoc basis, for example with the organisation of OxCIN United sessions on topics related to Open Science. Find out more on the OxCIN Open Science community pages, and feel free to get in touch with open@oxcin.ox.ac.uk with any ideas or suggestions.
Early Career Researchers
Looking for new OxCIN United organisers!
The OxCIN Early Career Researcher (ECR) group leads on skills development and training to support our researchers at a pivotal point in their careers. We organise approximately one event per term on a range of themes, usually during a OxCIN Wednesday slot. Topics have included a look behind the scenes at a grant evaluation panel, how to write grant proposals, how to deal with rejection, and much more. Feel free to email melanie.fleming@ndcn.ox.ac.uk if you’re interested in joining, or even if you would just like to organise a particular event. Anyone is welcome to get involved, including postdocs, students and RAs.
Global scholars
Each year, 2-5 early-career researchers conducting research in the Global South join OxCIN’s network as Global Scholars. During this time, Scholars receive training on MRI Physics and Analysis, interact with OxCIN researchers, and participate in scientific and career development events.
The Global Scholars committee advertises the call for applications, handles shortlisting and interviews, arranges the Scholars' OxCIN United talks, and organises an annual symposium. We aim for the committee to cover as wide a geographical spread as possible, and you do not need to be from the Global South to take part. If you are interested in joining the committee or finding out more about the programme, please contact admin@oxcin.ox.ac.uk.
OxCIN community groups
We have several community groups that organise social events, including board game nights, book club, climbing sessions and film nights. Everyone is very welcome to join a group or just come by for one event, or start your own group!
