This working group formed in late 2020 to develop a strategic plan relating to racial and ethnic diversity in the academic workplace. We will be releasing our strategic vision in 2021, which will be adopted as WIN's strategic EDI focus in the 2021-22 academic year.

The mission of the racial and ethnic diversity working group is to support people who experience racism, and to cultivate the diversity of our members to better reflect the diversity in our scientific and social communities.

We aim to achieve this through a three-pronged approach:

  • Working to support members of our institution by addressing systemic bias and discrimination
  • Facilitating the diversification our workforce with incoming staff and students
  • Using our voice to promote antiracism in our broader scientific community

The working group is currently exploring and developing initiatives to forward our strategic goals, with a public release of our plans and progress to coincide with our WIN strategic EDI focus year, starting in autumn 2021.
