Hanna Smyth
PhD
Public Engagement Officer
As the Public Engagement Officer for the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (WIN), I support the Public Engagement Programme of the WIN. This includes specific support for the Banbury Museum partnership, PE Ambassadors Scheme, Football on the Brain project, and Building Stress Resilience in Early Adolescence project, among others.
I specialise in heritage partnerships, having previously worked in museums in both England and Canada and most recently on the Heritage Partnerships team of the university's Humanities Division. My PhD was in Global & Imperial History and I also hold an MA in Museum Studies.
Since 2021 I have co-chaired the university's Public Engagement Facilitator Network which brings together 100+ public engagement staff from across every Division of the university; please do get in touch if you would like to join.
For 2022 I was also a Public Engagement with Research Associate at the Ashmolean Museum as part of their 'Talking Memory' programme, which focuses on developing and delivering research-based museum programming for older adults.
In 2023 I am involved with the University of Oxford 'Science Together' community engagement initiative, as public engagement facilitator for a community group exploring the wellbeing benefits of music lessons.
For researchers: please get in touch if you would like to discuss your public engagement plans. We are always happy to help at any stage, including discussing ideas, training, funding, and practicalities.
For anyone else: If there is anything you would like to know, or you think there is a gap in the way in which we involve you in our research, please get in touch so we can discuss your thoughts further!
