Guarantors of Brain Clinical Postdoctoral Fellow
- Specialty Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry
- Academic tutor and lecturer for pre-clinical and clinical medical students
- Departmental People and Culture committee member and Co-Chair of the Family Friendly and Part-Time Working Group
I am a clinical postdoctoral fellow funded by the Guarantors of Brain and supported by Professor Catherine Harmer and Dr Susannah Murphy (DoP, Oxford), Professor Thomas Nichols and Dr Anya Topiwala (BDI, Oxford) and Professor Rachel Upthegrove (Birmingham).
My research interests include neurocognition, self-harm and psychopharmacology across different mental illnesses - especially involving mood and psychotic disorders.
For my DPhil, I investigated whether one group of new agents, which act as agonists at the 5HT4 receptor, may work as antidepressants and / or improve cognition in humans using behavioural tasks and brain imaging.
After my DPhil, I am continuing similar work and will also be investigating possible factors that may increase the risk of future episodes of depression using imaging data of large datasets, including the UK Biobank.
I am a Specialty Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry and am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Within the department, I co-chair the Family Friendly and Part-Time working group and sit on the People and Culture Committee, and teach medical students.
Outside of the department, I am also a trainee editor for the British Journal of Psychiatry.
