"Public engagement describes the myriad of ways in which the activity and benefits of higher education and research can be shared with the public. Engagement is by definition a two-way process, involving interaction and listening, with the goal of generating mutual benefit."

-National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE).

WIN Engagement Strategy

WIN public engagement activities are guided by our Engagement Strategy, which you can download or read at the bottom of this page. Please contact WIN's public engagement officer, Hanna Smyth, if you need an accessible version of this document.

WIN engagement academic leads

WIN has five Academic Leads, who each share strategic oversight of one of WIN's public engagement programmes with the WIN Public Engagement Manager, and steer the scientific direction of activity in their programme. The Academic Leads also help to encourage other groups or individual researchers to be involved in public engagement.

WIN Public Engagement governance

The WIN Public Engagement Steering Committee is comprised of the centre Director, the five Academic Leads, the Public Engagement Manager, and the Public Engagement Officer. It meets four times per year. The WIN Public Engagement External Advisory Board is comprised of representatives from various public audiences WIN engages with. It meets once every two years.
