Francesca Back
FHS Student: 2018-2019
Francesca's project is supervised by Charlie Stagg with day-to-day supervision from Emily Hinson. She will be investigating the role of the ipsilateral primary motor cortex during human motor learning. The project will involve the use of cathodal tDCS and paired pulse TMS to investigate bilateral cortical excitability before, during and after learning.
Rebecca Jurdon
FHS Student: 2018-2019
Francesca's project is supervised by Charlie Stagg with day-to-day supervision from Caro Nettekoven. She will investigate the contribution of the cerebellum to a form of motor learning. Her project involves assessing the effects of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation delivered to the cerebellum during the performance of a visuomotor adaptation task.
Georgina James
FHS Student: 2017-2018
Georgina's project was supervised by Charlie Stagg with day-to-day supervision from Adam Steel. She worked on a 3T MRI project using magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) to measure cofluctuation of different neurotransmitters across the dorsal motor network during motor learning. The project will involve participants performing multiple motor learning tasks along with the MRSI scan.
Assen Risov
FHS Student: 2017-2018
Assen's project was supervised by Charlie Stagg and James Kolasinski, with day-to-day supervision from Emily Hinson. His project involved the collection of two datasets investigating the effects of motor task performance on GABA levels in the somatosensory cortex. The project scanned two cohorts of healthy participants, and used magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) at 7T to measure GABA during a non-learning motor task and during rest.
Dan Manners
FHS Student: 2016-2017
Dan's project stemmed from our groups previous work on the effects of tDCS on digit somatotopy. His work involved collecting a control dataset to investigate the anatomical specificity of the effects of anodal tDCS on the somatosensory cortex. This work contributed to a recent publication by the group.
Dan submitted his FHS project at the end of Hilary Term 2017, ahead of his final examinations in Trinity 2017.
This project was supervised by Charlie Stagg and James Kolasinski, with day-to-day help from Emily Hinson.
John Logan
FHS Student: 2015-2016
John's project within the group was entitled "Investigating the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation on digit somatotopy in the human somatosensory cortex".
His project involved assessing the effects of anodal tDCS delivered to sensorimotor cortex on cortical GABA, topography of the somatosensory cortex and behavioural effects using a tactile order judgement task. His project received a high distinction mark, and some of the data collected has contributed to a recent publication by the group.
This project was supervised by Charlie Stagg and James Kolasinski, with day-to-day help from Emily Hinson.
Amir PUYAN Divanbeighi Zand
FHS Student: 2014-2015
Yan's project within our group was to investigate the effect of a simple motor learning task (a serial reaction time task) on cortical GABA levels, during ultra-high (7T) MRI scanning. Data from this project have been used to contribute to a recent publication by the group.
This project was supervised by Charlie Stagg and James Kolasinski.
