Gut microbiome and brain function
Researchers at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford are seeking healthy male and female volunteers aged: 18 – 50, who may be feeling anxious, for a study testing the effect of a nutritional supplement on brain function.
The study aims to test if a naturally-occurring form of dietary fibre can improve brain function and behaviour. Participants will be asked to consume the fibre supplement (or a placebo) daily with breakfast. Participants will consume the first substance over a 6-week period, have a 3-week break, before continuing for an additional 6 weeks consuming the other substance.
Before and after the intervention, participants will be asked to complete questionnaires and to perform computerized behavioural and MRI tasks. They will also be asked to provide saliva and faecal samples.
Study participation will be reimbursed.
