Enhancing attentional function using real-time fMRI neurofeedback
Right hemisphere brain injury impairs attention to left space, a neurological syndrome known as 'neglect'. In this proof-of-concept study in healthy volunteers we are investigating whether individuals can learn to self-regulate their brain activity (eg: strengthen the functioning of circuits that control attention to left space) by learning from real-time fMRI neurofeedback signals. We will test whether any such learning changes attentional performance.
