Hundreds of people enjoy research open day at the John Radcliffe, Oxford

Thursday 21st April 2016

Hundreds of people enjoyed a showcase of biomedical research across more than 30 stands organised by the Oxford Biomedical Research Council (BRC).

The FMRIB Plasticity Group hosted a stand demonstrating our work in stroke rehabilitation.  We demonstrated the work using non-invasive brain stimulation for motor rehabilitation after stroke, and also the prism goggles being investigated for treatment of neglect.

The event was very well attended by the public, patients of the hospital and their families as well as other researchers from around Oxford.

Director of the BRC Prof Keith Channon said: “The BRC Open Day clearly demonstrated the enormous scale and scope of the research partnership between the Oxford University Hospitals and the University of Oxford.

“Members of the public, patients and their families were highly interested to see how scientific research, supported by the BRC, has led to new diagnostic tests and treatments that are already impacting on NHS patient care across Oxfordshire, and beyond.”
