"Grey matter abnormalities in methcathinone abusers with a Parkinsonian syndrome" - Juurmaa, Menke et al. 2016

We are pleased to announce the publication of a paper in the journal Brain and Behaviour, on which Dr Charlie Stagg is an author.

This paper is available online here.

The paper studied a permanent Parkinsonian syndrome that occurs in intravenous abusers of the designer psychostimulant methcathinone (ephedrone). It is attributed to deposition of contaminant manganese, as reflected by characteristic globus pallidus hyperintensity on T1-weighted MRI.
