Research Summary

I am a research fellow at the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity (OHBA), affiliated with the Brain & Cognition Lab (PI Kia Nobre) and I am funded by the British Academy.

My research focuses on understanding memory and attention in both health and disease. I combine psychophysical methods with non-invasive brain imaging techniques (MEG and MRI) and brain stimulation (TMS) to examine the neuromodulation of memory and attention in healthy individuals and their deficits in patients with neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease and those at risk of neurodegeneration.

More specifically, I am currently investigating the cognitive profile of individuals at risk of Alzheimer’s disease, that is individuals with different alleles of the ApoE gene, using tasks of short and long-term memories. Furthermore, using MEG and MRI in combination with behavioural measures of attention, working memory and timing, I aim to provide a more comprehensive neural, oscillatory and cognitive fingerprint of Parkinson’s disease.

A key priority in research on neurodegenerative disorders is to identify the disease as its earliest stages. My research therefore aims to identify cognitive and neural biomarkers that can aid early diagnosis as well as treatment monitoring in patients.

I completed my undergraduate studies and a PhD in Clinical Neurology (funded by the Brain Research Trust) at UCL before moving to University of Oxford as a postdoctoral fellow.
