When you prepare your manuscript
Reporting guidelines can be very helpful when you’re preparing a manuscript. A useful collection of guidelines can be found here: http://www.equator-network.org/
There are several guidelines that are relevant to research conducted at the WIN.
COBIDAS for MRI research
The Organisation for Human Brain Mapping Committee on Best Practice in Data Analysis and Sharing (COBIDAS) came up with a report that describes Best Practices in Data Analysis and Sharing in Neuroimaging using MRI. We think that this is essential reading material for anyone conducting and reporting neuroimaging studies. Have a look at Appendices C and D in particular and make sure that you follow the guidelines whenever you write up your results. The report can be found here: http://www.humanbrainmapping.org/files/2016/COBIDASreport.pdf
ARRIVE for animal research
The ARRIVE (Animal Research: Reporting of In Vivo Experiments) guidelines were developed in consultation with the scientific community as part of an NC3Rs initiative to improve the standard of reporting of research using animals. You can find the guidelines and a helpful checklist to be used before manuscript submission here: https://www.nc3rs.org.uk/arrive-guidelines
Ten simple rules for neuroimaging meta-analysis
These guidelines were established to improve transparency and replicability of meta-analytic results in neuroimaging, especially MRI research. In Table 1 there is also a checklist of all the aspects a researcher performing a meta-analysis should consider that can be provided as supplementary material to your paper: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0149763417303111?via%3Dihub
When you have finished your manuscript
Consider publishing the final version of your manuscript as a preprint
