The functional significance of tractography-defined structural connections remains unclear. Prior work linking tractography with resting-state FMRI and/or EEG have been challenging to interpret or to find reliable correspondence due to the complex relationship between structural and functional connectivity in the brain. In this talk, I will present how we can leverage tractography and stereo-EEG data in the same epilepsy patients to determine whether it is possible to infer functional connectivity (electrical signaling) based on tractography data. If we can predict the probability of electrical signals via tractography then we have a non-invasive tool for predicting electrical signaling in the brain with broad scientific and clinical applications including guidance for placement of electrodes for functional neurosurgeries.
