Communication is an essential part of any scientific career. If you haven't told anyone what you did, and what you found, have you truly done the science? It is tempting to think we only have to dryly communicate exact technical details to other scientists. In reality we regularly have to communicate our ideas packaged for a wide range of people, experience, and purposes. In this short workshop we will look at how you can tailor and refine your writing for frequently encountered purposes: papers, grants, ethics, participant information, and public engagement.
In this interactive session, we will see real examples of writing for different purposes, find out how editing can help you get there iteratively, and finally try it out live with other participants.
This session will benefit from in-person attendance. As such, the session will be run in both the FMRIB Annex and OHBA. You are still welcome to join online. Please bring laptops or pen and paper. No lunch provided, but edible inducements may be present.
