Our small bore MRI scanner allows high resolution structural and functional MRI scans in rodents

Small Bore MRI

Our latest facility, opened in 2019, allows the scanning of mice and rats, providing a crucial link between the vast amount of research in rodent models of disease, and the human MRI scans that the Centre has expertise in.

The 7 Tesla system has a 20 cm bore, and is equipped with a large range of mouse and rat RF coils.  The system is also equipped with a cryoprobe and four receiver channels.
